Isdhoo Old mosque was built in1701 during the reign of Sultan Mohamed of Dhevvadhoo (1692-1701) and continues its use as a mosque till today. This is the mosque where the 12th century royal copper chronicles 'Isdhoo Loamaafaanu' was kept in a special chamber. It is an old small coral stone mosque maintained well with minimal changes. The mosque is built on a pre-Islamic site and analysis of the architectural details of the mosque indicates that the stonework could be even older. This mosque is located in a remote part of the island and compound contains the mosque building, old well and a cemetery with grave markers and no boundary walls. The mosque building has a prayer hall with dhaala or veranda-like antechambers on three sides, a mihrab chamber, a special chamber to keep the Isdhoo Loamaafaanu and three entrances. It is the only mosque with an asymmetric floor plan. The mosque is built on a coral stone plinth with coral stonewalls, four coral stone columns, timber doors and roof structure all brought together using an interlocking dry joinery system. The roof is two-tiered with a modern metal roofing finish and has a decorated coffered ceiling with a stepped recessed area called laagé raised from the beam using thona. The timber doors have arched doorways with sliding doors and the windows use a timber lattice style called miskit jaali. The coral stone platform is decorated with layers of mouldings but do not have fine carvings. Originally the floor finish would have been traditional reed mats and lit by traditional hanging brass or glass oil lamps.
According to the local oral history a mosque was built on this location by a master carpenter named Ismail Maavadikaleyge’ around 1657-1658 using the leftover coral stone and timber of Malé Old Friday Mosque. The present mosque was built or remodelled by Sultan Mohamed of Dhevvadhoo (1692-1701) and has survived well without much change. Even though there are no records, study of old photographs show that the mosque has been restored many times and the roofing has been changed from coconut thatching to asbestos roofing sheet to modern metal sheets. Parts of the interior timberwork has been replaced and restored and evidence of a fire is still visible. The last record of restoration was in 2005.

1701 ވަނަ އަހަރުގެ ތެރޭގައި މިސްކިތް ބިނާކުރެއްވީ އައްސުލްޠާން މުޙައްމަދުގެ (ދެއްވަދޫ ރަސްގެފާނު) ރަސްކަމުގައެވެ. މިއަދުވެސް ނަމާދު ކުރުމަށް މި މިސްކިތް ބޭނުންކުރެއެވެ. މިއީ، މިސްކިތުގެ ދެފަޅި ހަމަހަމަ ނޫން ގޮތަކަށް ހަދައިފައިވާ ހަމައެކަނި ހިރިގަލު މިސްކިތެވެ. އަދި 12 ވަނަ ޤަރުނުގައި ލިޔެފައިވާ އިސްދޫ ލޯމާފާނު ބޭއްވުމަށް ޙާއްސަ މިޙުރާބު ގެއެއް ލައިފައިވާ ހަމައެކަނި މިސްކިތްވެސް މެއެވެ. މި މިސްކިތަކީ ކުޑަކުޑަ ވަރަށް ރީތި މިސްކިތެކެވެ. މިސްކިތް ވަރަށް ރަނގަޅަށް ބަލަހައްޓައިފައިވާއިރު މާ ބޮޑެތި ބަދަލުތަކެއް ގެނެސްފައެއް ނެތެވެ. މި މިސްކިތަކީ ތާރީޚީ ގޮތުން މުހިންމު ތަނެކެވެ.
ލ. އަތޮޅު އިސްދޫ ޒަމާންވީ މިސްކިތް ބިނާކޮށްފައިވަނީ ރަށުގެ ބަނދަރުމައްޗާ ކައިރީގައެވެ. ރާއްޖެ އިސްލާމްވުމުގެ ކުރީގެ ބިނާއެއްހުރި ސަރަހައްދެއްގައެވެ. ފަރުމާކުރުމުގެ ތަފްސީލުތަކަށް ބަލާއިރު ގަލުމަސައްކަތްތަކަކީ އަދި މާދުވަސްވީ ތަންތަންކަމުގައި ބެލެވެއެވެ. މިސްކިތުގެ ގޯތި ތެރޭގައި ހުރީ މަހާނަ ގައުތަކަކާއި ހިރިގަލުގެ ވަޅެކެވެ. ގޯތީގެ އިންފާރު ލައި ވަކިކޮށްފައެއް ނެތެވެ. މިސްކިތުގެ ތިން ފަރާތުގައި ފެންޑާހުރެފައި މިސްކިތަށް ވަނުމަށް ދޮރަކާއި ދާލައެއް ހުރެއެވެ. މިސްކިތް ބިނާކުރެވިފައިވަނީ އުސްކޮށްފައިވާ ހިރިގަލު ތަޅުމެއްގެމަތީ ހިރިގަލު ފާރާއި ހިރިގަލު ހަތަރު ތަނބުންނެވެ. އަދި ލަކުޑި ދޮރުތަކާއި ފުރާޅުގެ ލަކުޑި ފައިދޮއްތައް ހުރީ މޮހޮރުނުޖަހައި ތަޅު އަޅުވައިލެވޭގޮތަށެވެ. ދޮރުތަކުގެ މަތީބައިހުރީ ވަށްކޮށެވެ. އަދި ލަކުޑި ދަމާލެވޭދޮރާއި މިސްކިތުޖާލި ހަރުކުރެވިފައިވާ ކުޑަދޮރުތައް ހުރެއެވެ. މި މިސްކިތުގެ ބޭރުގައި ހިރިގަލު ވަޑާމުގެ ކުރެހުންތަކެއް ނެތް ނަމަވެސް، މިސްކިތުގެ އެތެރޭގެ މަސައްކަތްތެރިކަމާއި ފަންނުވެރިކަން ވަރަށް ފުރިހަމައެވެ. މިސްކިތުގެ ދެބަރިއަށް ހުރި ފުރާޅުގައި ޒަމާނީ ޓިނުޖަހާފައިވާއިރު ލާގެއެއް ހިމެނޭ ލަކުޑި ފަންގިފިލާވަނީ ވަރަށް ފުރިހަމައަށް ލާފެންކުރެވިފައެވެ. އެންމެ އިހުގައި ބިންމަތީގައި ކުނާއަޅައި ތަން އަލިކުރުމަށް ތެޔޮބައްތި ބޭނުންކުރިކަމަށް ބެލެވެއެވެ.
ދޫދޫމަތިން އެނގޭގޮތުގައި މާލޭ އާސާރީ ހުކުރުމިސްކިތް ހަދާފައި ބާކީވީ ސާމާނުން 1657-1658 ގައި އިސްދޫ އާސާރީ މިސްކިތް އެންމެފުރަތަމަ ބިނާކުރީ މަޝްހޫރު ވަޑިއެއްކަމަށްވާ އިސްމާއިލް މާވަޑިކިލެގެއެވެ. އަދި މިހާރުހުރިގޮތައް ބަދަލުކުރެވުނީ ދެއްވަދޫ އައްސުލްތާން މުޙައްމަދުގެ (1692-1701) ދުވަސްވަރުއެވެ. އޭގެފަހުން މާބޮޑުބަދަލުތަކެއް ނައިސް މިއަދާހަމައަށް ދެމެހެއްޓިފައިވެއެވެ. ލިޔެކިޔުންތަކެއްނެތްކަމުގައިވިޔަސް އިހުގެ ފޮޓޯތަކުން ފެންނަގޮތުގައި މި މިސްކިތްވަނީ އެތަކެއްފަހަރު މަރާމާތުކުރެވިފައެވެ. އެގޮތުން އެންމެ އިހުގައި ހުރި ފަންފުރާޅު “އެސްބެސްޓޮސް” އަށް ބަދަލުކޮށް އެއަށްފަހު ޒަމާނީ ޓިނަށް ބަދަލުކުރެވުނެވެ. އަދި ބައެއް ލަކުޑި ބައިބައި މަރާމާތުކޮށް ބަދަލުކޮށްފައިވާހިނދު އަލިފާނުގެ ހާދިސާއެއްގެ ނިޝާންތައް ފެންނާން ހުރެއެވެ. ލިޔެކިޔުންތަކުން ފެންނަގޮތުގައި އެންމެފަހުން މި މިސްކިތް މަރާމާތުކުރެވުނީ 2005 ގައެވެ.
