The exact period of construction is unclear but according to local oral history it is around 300 years old probably built during the reign of Sultan Muzaffar Mohamed Imaduddin around 1705. It continues its use as a mosque till today and is well maintained with few changes since 1950s. It is the only surviving coral stone mosque with Indian clay roofing tiles. Analysis of the architectural details of the mosque indicates that it could be even older and restored many times.
The mosque compound consists of the mosque building, two water wells and a cemetery with a mausoleum. A large part of the original mosque compound designated to the cemetery is separated with a wall now and has a number of old coral stone grave markers with fine carvings. A coral masonry boundary wall surrounds the mosque with two entrances. Trees such as frangipanis, coconut palms and other flowering plants are present within the complex.
The mosque building is one of the few mosques in the country to undergo few changes since the early 1950s. Typically, the mosque is built on a simple coral stone plinth, with coral stone walls, timber sliding doors and tired roof. The prayer hall has fenda on three sides and rising entrance stair with dhaala. The exterior coral stone have moldings without intricate carvings. The interior has lacquered calligraphy panels, lacquered beams, coffered ceilings with a decorated laage'. The main four columns and a lot of the lacquer work were replaced with the help of the famous lacquer workers from Thulhadhoo, Baa Atoll.

| 1900s | The mosque was restored and remodelled extensively in the 1900s. The roofing was changed from coconut thatching to Indian clay roofing tiles, the dhaala fitted with timber lattice (miskithu jaali) windows and parts of interiors replaced. Lacquer workers from Baa Atoll Thulhadhoo did the overall lacquer work and interior columns. Even though it was remodelled, the coral structure and exterior form of the mosque remain unchanged. |

މި މިސްކިތް ބިނާކުރެވުނު ތާރީޚެއް ކަނޑައަޅައި އެނގެން ނެތް ނަމަވެސް، ދޫދޫމަތިން އައިސްފައިވާ ގޮތުންނަމަ މި މިސްކިތަށް ތިން ސަތޭކައެއްހާ އަހަރު ވެދާނެއެވެ. އެހެންވީމާ، މިސްކިތް ބިނާކުރެވިފައިވާނީ އައްސުލްޠާން މުޒައްފަރު މުޙަންމަދު ޢިމާދުއްދީންގެ (1705 ހިސާބުގައި) ރަސްކަމުގައި ކަމަށް ބެލެވެއެވެ. މި މިސްކިތަކީ މިހާރުވެސް ނަމާދު ކުރުމަށް ބޭނުން ކުރެވެމުންދާ މިސްކިތެކެވެ. ވިހި ވަނަ ޤަރުނުގެ ކުރީކޮޅުގައި ގެނެވުނު ބަދަލުތަކެއް ފިޔަވައި މާބޮޑު ބަދަލުތަކެއް މި މިސްކިތަށް ގެނެވިފައެއް ނުވެއެވެ. އަދި މިއީ މިހާރު ފުރާޅުގައި އީޓު ޖަހާފައި ހުރި ހަމައެކަނި ހިރިގަލު މިސްކިތްވެސްމެއެވެ. މިއީ މެދު ރާއްޖޭގެ ސަރަޚައްދުގެ އުތުރުގައި ހުރި ބޭނުން ކުރެވެމުންދާ ހަމައެކަނި ހިރިގަލު މިސްކިތެވެ. ފަރުމާކުރުމުގެ ތަފްސީލުކަމަށް ބަލާއިރު މިމިސްކިތަކީ މިއަށްވުރެއްވެސް ދުވަސްވީ އަދި އެކިފަހަރުމަތިން މަރާމާތުކުރެވިފައިވާ މިސްކިތެއްކަމަށް ބެލެވެއެވެ.
ގޯތިތެރޭގައި މިސްކިތުގެ އިތުރުން ދެ ފެންވަޅާއި ޒިޔާރާތަކާއި ގަބުރުސްތާނެއް ހުރެއެވެ. ގޯތީގެ ބޮޑުބައިގައިވާ މި ގަބުރުސްތާނު މިހާރު ވަނީ ވަށާފާރަކުން ވަކިކުރެވިފައެވެ. މިއީ މިހާތަނަށްވެސް ދެމެހެއްޓެނިވި ގޮތެއްގައި ބަލަހައްޓަމުން ގެންގޮސްފައިވާ ޤަބުރުސްތާނެކެވެ. ބައެއް މަހާނަ ގައުތަކުގެ ކުރެހުންތައް ރީތިވެފައި ފުރިހަމައެވެ. މިސްކިތުގެ ގޯތީގައި ވަންނަ ދެދޮރުލާފައިވާ ހިރިގަލު އިންފާރެއް ހުރެވެއެވެ. އަދި ގޯތިތެރޭގައި ރުކާއި ގުލްސަންޕާ ގަހާއި އެހެނިހެން މާގަސްތައް އެބަހުއްޓެވެ.
މިސްކިތުގެ އިމާރާތުގައި ހިމެނެނީ އުސްކުރެވިފައިވާ ހިރިގަލު ތަޅުމަކާއި ހިރިގަލުން ހަދާފައިވާ ފާރުތަކާއި ލަކުޑި ދަމާދޮރާއި އަދި ބަރިބަރިއަށްހުރި ފުރާޅެކެވެ. އަދި މިޙުރާބު ގެއަކާއި ތިންފަރާތުގައި ފެންޑާއަކާއި ވަންނަދޮރުމަތީގައި ހަރުފަތްބަރިއަކާއި ދާލައެއް ހުރެއެވެ. ގަލުވަޑާމުގެ މަސައްކަތްތަކަށް ބަލާއިރު، މި މިސްކިތަކީ ކަނޑާ ނެގުންތަކެއް ނެތް ސާދާ މިސްކިތެކެވެ. ލާފެންކުރުމުގެ މަސައްކަތަށް ބަލާއިރު، މިސްކިތުގެ އެތެރޭގައި ލަކުޑި ބެރިތަކުގައިވާ ލިޔުންތަކާއި ލާގެއެއް ހިމެނޭ ލަކުޑި ސީލިންއެއް ހުރެއެވެ. އަދި އެތެރޭގގައި ހުރި ލަކުޑި ހަތަރު ތަނބާއި ލާފެންކުރުމުގެ މަސައްކަތްތަށްވަނީ ބ. އަތޮޅު މަޝްހޫރު ލިޔެލާޖެހުންތެރިންގެ އެހީއާއިއެކު މަރާމާތުކުކޮށް ބަދަލުކުރެވިފައެވެ.

| 1900s | 1900 ގެ އަހަރުތަކުގެތެރޭގައި މިސްކިތަށްވަނީ ބޮޑެތި މަރާމާތުތަކެއް ކުރެވި ބަދަލުތަކެއް ގެނެވިފައެވެ. މިގޮތުން އެންމެކުރިން ހުރި ފަންފުރާޅު ވަނީ އިންޑިއާ އީޓަށް ބަދަލުކުރެވިފައެވެ. އަދި ދާލައިގައި ވަނީ ލަކުޑި މިސްކިތުޖާލި ހަރުކުރެވިފައެވެ. މީގެ އިތުރުން އެތެރޭގައިވާ ލަކުޑި ހަތަރު ތަނބާއި ލާފެންކުރުމުގެ މަސައްކަތްތަށްވަނީ ބ. އަތޮޅު މަޝްހޫރު ލިޔެލާޖެހުންތެރިންގެ އެހީއާއިއެކު މަރާމާތުކުކޮށް ބަދަލުކުރެވިފައެވެ. މި ބަދަލުތަކާއިއެކުވެސް ހިރިގަލުގެ ބައިތަކާއި ބޭރުންފެންނަ ސިފައަށް ބަދަލެއް ގެނެވިފައެއް ނުވެއެވެ. |
